Blackpool Stars

Had a lovely day out in Blackpool today. Bright and breezy - typical Blackpool.
On the way in we stopped to have a look at Blackpool FC ground on Bloomfield Road and blipped these two statues.
Jimmy Armfield and Stanley Mortenson - both exceptional players who contributed greatly to Blackpool's successes in the past - but - no statue of Sir Stanley Matthews - arguably the most famous son of Blackpool.
It seems a strange omission - does anyone know why?
