Trashed

Showing the power of the recent floods, a tree trunk lies stranded on Tavistock Weir, ripped apart by the power of the water. A large branch is tangled in the trees further down the river, the shape of the freshly exposed wood matching shapes on the trunk.

The water is somewhat lower than it was a couple of days ago, but there is more rain tonight, so it could well rise again and this trunk could end up further downriver. I shall keep an eye out for the next couple of weeks, as I'm sure it will eventually arrive at the nature reserve near the estuary. If it does, it will make a complementary blip to today's shot.

Nice lunch today with friends we haven't seen for a year or so, and then we went to the Mother-in-Law's for tea. Had a nice piece of pork cooked in the slow cooker and some chocolate orange trifle for afters. Might need to get out on the bike tomorrow!
