As Big As Your Head! Sound Challenge Day 3

CATHABER'S SOUND ILLUSTRATION DAY THREE

Do join in Cathaber's challenge - see HERE.

The local veg shop has Bunya Nuts in today! The big pine tree Araucaria bidwillii which grows wild only in Queensland Australia, produces these gigantic cones only every three or four years.

These are much bigger than a football and are heavy - you wouldn't want to be standing under one as it falls! Open them with a machete or throw them in a fire until the outer layer starts to burn off. Inside are delicious indivually-wrapped nuts.

The trees and their harvest are special to the Aboriginal peoples who have Bunya Gatherings to celebrate the harvest, with music, feasting and of course - didjeridoos - listen to one HERE.
