Annual Helsinki Baltic Herring Fair

The Baltic Herring Fair has been held annually at the start of October since 1743. Fishermen congregate at the Market Square on the harbour to sell their best products, marinated Baltic herring, malt rye bread from the archipelago and clothing knitted from the wool of island sheep.
Last night the wind blew hard. Many fishermen sleep in their cobles.
The market is daily open this week, It´s near the foodhall. I shall go again some day to taste and purchase delicacies.
