Happy New Year

3am waterloo station and it is busier than the rush hour !

The first part of our journey back from Greenwich worked very well, DLR followed by Jubilee line. It all started to unravel at waterloo as it is near to the carnage that happens when a quarter of a million people turn up to watch the fireworks. But even 2 or 3 hours later they have carefully controlled access to waterloo to prevent overcrowding. In fact they did it so well they managed to lock everyone out of the station. None of the police or railway staff seemed to know what was happening or how to get into the rail station. My favourite quote "the trains aren't stopping at waterloo as its too busy". Its a terminus the trains have to stop there (or they would end up in the IMAX, the Festival Hall then the Thames). So we got the Tube and were home by just gone 4am.. Pretty good that public transport ran all night - even if it was a bit confused.

Great NYE party with a roof terrace view of the fireworks. A great evening and nice to catch up with people we had not seen for ages.
