Swimming Against The Tide

Unmade Bed!

OK, this definitely isn't Tracey Emin! It's just an ordinary bed that's been slept in and left!

Well, it's not THAT ordinary - it's a hotel bed that the Wonderspouse and I spent the night in. This was the first night we'd had away in AGES. In fact, the last time we went away overnight together was so long ago that I can't even remember it!

So it was just the Novotel in Milton Keynes, and it was just a one night "winter break", but it really did us good to get away. We went around lunchtime yesterday having fed and medicated all animals who needed it, and we returned home today in order to see in the New Year at home.

This morning we went to the gym, where I discovered I am now actually fit enough to jog slowly on the treadmill again - the first time in ages that has been the case, and the result of starting to exercise by walking and of losing around 2 stone in weight in the last 6 months.

I was also able to shoulder fly 5kg in each hand for several reps without even trying very hard - all the lifting of rat cages has obviously kept my shoulders strong!

We drove home through quite a lot of rain, and the Wonderspouse made lamb for New Year's Eve supper, as is the tradition here. We saw the New Year in quietly, having spent the evening working on plans and goals and hopes for the future.
