Don't Stand in my Light

By JacquiJay

Christmas Cactus

Bright beside the crib of Jesus
Christmas Cactus, faithful friend,
Now aflame with buds and flowers,
Blossoms surely without end!

Vivid crimson blooms abounding,
Arching down in rich cascades,
Here and there, a flower dying,
Withers, but it never fades.

Holly bears its berries early,
Christmas Roses bloom so late,
But you, old friend, have perfect timing,
Just as if you know the date.

Sentimental though my fancy,
The royal Child these flowers shall please:
For Solomon in all his glory
Was not arrayed like one of these.
