Red Shouldered Hawk

We went on a hike in the Mt Gower Reserve area, where I took several photos from which to choose my blip for the day. However, I knew they were all for naught when we flushed this hawk from the ground and he just went into a tree on the other side of a stand of prickly pear cactus. I found a hole to shoot through and got this great shot of him, seemingly feeling quite safe behind the wall of cactus. I am so glad I brought my camera with the big zoom along.
