The Quiet Carriage

One of the greatest innovations in public transport in recent years has been the advent of the quiet carriage. Originally dedicated to one carriage per train, now half the carriages are "quiet" which just goes to show how popular they have become. "Quiet" means "Mobile phones to silent, Headphones down in volume, Keep chat to a minimum". I make quite frequent two and a quarter hour trips to Sydney and the quiet carriage is absolute bliss, when it works which is usually. However some people just don't get it. They think it is OK to take calls if someone rings their mobile, and most irritating of all is continual whispering. I suppose I am getting old and cranky, but why don't they use the other half of the train? In fact what we really need is Carriages, Quiet Carriages and Silent Carriages. I was going to use this as a sound link which is what is should be, but this one is more interesting, and almost as soothing.
