The author of Mary Poppins, PL Travers lived in Bowral NSW for 10 years from 1907-1917. (details here)

In honour of the Sesquicentenary (150 years) of Bowral in 2013 a statue was raised in Glebe Park, right next door to Bradman Oval and the International Cricket Hall of Fame, of Mary Poppins - PL Travers most famous creation.
