Great Spotted Woodpecker ???

I saw this magnificent bird on the feeder at around 10am. It's bigger than a blackbird, but smaller than a jay.

By the time I'd grabbed the camera it had disappeared - we've never seen one on our feeder before and I thought I'd lost my opportunity.

However, not even 15 minutes later it had returned. This was taken through the patio door and isn't the sharpest of captures, but I just had to post it as today's entry.

Unfortunately we've now lost the crisp, sunny and frosty morning. It's clouded over and spitting with rain - I've a feeling we're in for a deluge!
