Old coal wagons

The railway line between Heerlen (or Schaesberg)-Terwinselen is a former freight line for the transport of coal from the State mines Wilhelmina and Oranje Nassau II to Terwinselen to the rest of Netherlands and abroad.
The line was several kilometers long and went from station Heerlen, where other railway lines connected.
At the height of the Castle of Schaesberg the line goes to the mine at Terwinselen. The line was opened in 1906. When the coal mines were closed in 1975, this line was also closed and broken up. Currently is a piece of track at the height of the old route as a reminder of the line and the mines.

At the end of the piece of track, in memory of the many tons of coal were transported by rail, there are located two old coal wagons.
