New Year's Eve Lantern

The national park was full of people on New Year's Eve. Someone brought floating lanterns for the children to set off. After one went up, the park rangers let us know we can't do that in a national park. Oh well, the first one looked nice.

We went back to huddle around our fire and sip eggnog as the New Year drew closer. A wonderful way to close out the year if you ask me.

The eggnog came all the way from an international store in Bangkok, which means it actually came from somewhere much much farther away. My Thai friend liked it, but I think the seasonings were a bit strange for her. I'm grateful that I live in a place where some of our traditional holiday treats are still available.
