Sloe Gin Two Ways

I found a bush full of sloes a little over a week ago and collected enough berries to make 2 litres of gin, so I decided to try two slightly different ways of making it.
On the right is probably the 'traditional' way of making slow gin; in a 2 ltr kilner jar place 500g of sloes, add 250g of caster sugar, then pour over 1 ltr Gordon's gin. Seal the jar and agitate until the sugar is dissolved. Store in a cool, dark cupboard and shake every other day for 2 weeks, then shake once a week for at least 2 months.
On the left is a second method in which I've only added the sloes and the sugar to the jar so far. The sloes are left to macerate for 2 weeks before adding the gin to the fruit syrup. You then continue as method 1.
It'll be interesting to see if there's a significant difference in the taste of the two methods.
