Place St Gery - Brussels

This old market used to be a popular place to do your shopping. Inside you could buy your meat and outside you could purchase butter and eggs from the women sat in front of huge barrels of their ware.

These days though its a chilled out bar complete with piano which by day gets a tinkling of the ivories whilst people peruse the history, the photographic exhibitions or the vintage stalls. By night the piano doubles as somewhere for the DJ to put his decks for him to chill his crowd with some jazz, soothing the furrowed heads of the chess players.

It was lovely to pause time somewhere that has so much history and thrived eclectically. Cherry Belgian beer naturally also played its part. Well, when in Brussels.....
