12 Apostles...

Robert and Rochelle drove us out on what turned out to be around a 400km round trip today. We took a picnic along the Great Ocean Road. There was a big Jurrassic Park style entrance at the start of the road which winds round the coast westwards. We went through Lorne and turned right there to take a wee detour up to the Erskine Falls which was down an insanely steep road then from the car park down a load of stairs. Very nice, very picturesque.

After that we headed back to Lorne and headed back west to Apollo Bay for a picnic. This was all along the Surf Coast. There are soads of wee surf villages even a Torquay which I imagine gets it's name from the English Torquay.

Had lunch and tea on a gas stove and picked up some odds and sods from the pharmacy there. There was a small skatepark in Apollo Bay.

Again headed west towards the 12 Apostles National Park. The 12 Apostles (I don't think there are 12 of them left, one even got caught on camera collapsing a few months after we left Australia.) are a series of sea stacks. Very impressive. After this we headed west again to Port Campbell for a coffee. Then headed up the A1 and back to Barwon Heads.

Australia is a massive country on a scale that I've not really experienced. This load of travelling today felt like we'd travelled very far. When I looked at a map we'd barely moved in relation to the land mass as a whole.
