Lifeboat Trials

I went down to the Lifeboat Station at lunchtime today. The crew had just taken delivery of a new Inshore Ribeye Lifeboat called the Robert & Isobel Mowat. This is named after an Edinburgh couple. The new boat has twin Yamaha 4 stroke engines and is quieter and faster than the old one. It carries 5 crew, 2 more than the old one. It will be trialled for the next two days to give all the crewmen chance to learn all about it. It's official launch and naming ceremony will be a date in June. This is a photo of the boat just after it had been launched and was carrying out a tight turn!
