A walk on the canal

Today has been my day off and I am not feeling very well. However, I didn't let that deter me and went for a lovely walk with my daughter along the Leeds- Liverpool canal at Apperley Bridge.

Apart from jumping in puddles, I took quite a few lovely pictures, but I liked the way that the light has captured the water on this cascade, making it look like icicles.

I'm not sure what's going on with the curious twig arrangement, but there were lots of swans nearby and I got talking to a local photographer, who told me that when the water ices over in deep winter that the Swans treat the waterfall like a big slide. I'd like to see that:-)
