A black hat

Finally I got my (pretty expensive) doctoral hat! It is a major part of the academic dress of Ph.D. recipients in Finland. It is handmade of silk; a top hat with a straight brim. On the front there is the gold-coloured metallic emblem of the faculty. The hat will be awarded to me in a solemn 3-day graduation ceremony in June.
