Dawn Survey

A fairly ordinary image for you all today.

The Forth Ports Authority have a dedicated vessel to carry out hydrographic surveys of the ports and shipping lanes. If any are found to be silting up, a dredger is called in to maintain the accuracy of the water depths marked on charts.

The Forth Ports Survey ship is a twin-hulled vessel named 'Calatria'.

At Dawn this morning, I spotted it heading at high speed towards Kirkcaldy. The hill in the background is North Berwick Law.

[Thank you for yesterday's stars - I didn't think it deserved them as the image was a bit of a cliché really.]
