The Kiltwalk

Smile Like You Mean it, just like Aine

Let’s start with a quiz. Take a look at today’s Blipfoto picture taken at last night’s Edinburgh Kiltwalk Cheque presentations and hold that image in your head. Now look at this one http://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2897824 and please read Aine's story if you have time.

So here is the question? What two things are missing in the picture?”

If you answered Aine’s front teeth, you’ve got one of them. If you answered hospital surroundings, you’ve got the other.

We found out all about Aine, when we came across her Mum, Leah Forbes, who had signed up for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk and we came across her “Aine’s Journey” Facebook page, which you can read here https://www.facebook.com/aines.journey

Like all the people we meet, then as ever we wish we’d met Leah under different circumstances, however what has been has been and the important thing is, Aine is HOME!! Which delights everyone who knows her or has been following her Journey, particularly all of us here at The Kiltwalk.

We were mere observers, but immediately took Aine to our heart and when you hear her say "don't know what the fuss is about, I've only been in hospital and now wear a mask when I go to sleep" then with that attitude and THAT smile, who couldn't resist her. Aine's Journey isn't over, it's simply on another track and we'll always be keeping an eye on what mischief she's up to :-)

Team Aine certainly enriched The Kiltwalk in 2013 so we're delighted they'll be back in 2014. Team Aine has now joined the "Hats" club as in addition to The Aila Coull Foundation with their white caps, Keane's Stars and their green caps, we now have the yellow and red of Team Aine to look out for in 2014. Question is, will the other Teams such as Dyas, Summer and Logan follow suit? If you do, then like Horse Racing, let’s make sure your colours don’t clash.

I couldn’t personally make it along last night due to family commitments, so was gutted I didn’t get to meet Oor Little Princess in person, however I believe Leah is attending the Kiltwalk Burns Supper, so at least I’ll finally get to meet the lovely lady, with a remarkable little girl and a remarkable Kiltwalk Team behind her that raised a magnificent £12,000 in total of which half will be presented to Edinburgh Sick Kids in recognition of the loving care and attention they afforded Aine.
