First World War memorial tree

I came across this inscribed stone this afternoon in Jesmond Dene next to the Banqueting House. I found the message quite touching and in a way optimistic. I love the fact that a soldier had brought a seed back from the Western Front and planted on in Newcastle to grow into a lovely big tree that we can enjoy today and reflect on the first world war.
