Mark Jeary rehearsing 'Momentum'

A performance art installation at the 'Collective' gallery on Calton Hill, Edinburgh. Housed at the moment in temporary cabins, the gallery will be moving into the old City Observatory buildings. Currently it's housing 'Anti-VWAP' put on by Goldin+Senneby which describes itself as 'A collaborative framework exploring juridical, financial and spatial constructs'. Yes, it is pretentious nonsense. However, the installation itself was interesting; consisting of an actor, Mark Jeary, rehearing (not performing) a short one man play called 'Pulse' by Rob Drummond. So Mark Jeary had a set time in which to run through rehearsing the play in a loop running through the day.
Or to use its own publicity, Anti-VWAP 'Explores a financial reality that functions through a collectively produced play and partakes in a real economy. The exhibition features a new algorithmic trading model that will be tested in the financial markets, along with a newly commissioned speculative script by Rob Drummond, titled Momentum, which the actor Mark Jeary will be rehearsing on a daily basis for as long as the trading budget lasts. In the interplay between these two modes of speculation, the work gives itself over to the mysterious forces of capital, that it simultaneously stages in the gallery'.
Quite.
Mark's a good actor and watching him rehearse was interesting. He was more than happy for me to take his photo.
