Large-leaved Dock

Stuck for a blip - none of my shots today were really any good. I quite like this one though as it shows the intricate structures that some plants have to ensure their seeds are dispersed at the right time for them to germinate successfully. This is a kind of Dock, which is a horrid weed in gardens and arable fields with roots that seem to go down and down forever. The ribbed stem has ensured that the plant remained upright during all that wind we have had. The seeds are still in place and if you look closely you can see that they are almost ready to be blown away from the parent.
