Pied stilt family feeding

Adult parent bird and two juveniles feeding in a little stream near Rangiora. The orange light in the water is from river poppies growing along the banks.

The birds were luckily feeding behind a large bank so was able to get reasonably close for a photo. Backed off as the adult bird started to call. Something to always be aware of when taking birds, or I guess any kind of wildlife is no photo is worth disturbing the animal you're taking. I have heard of people going close to make the animal fly or what ever - how you could enjoy an image that you had caused distress to take is beyond me! (Rant over!)

Went out to Oxford to lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary - 47 years, where did they go, it seems to have flown by so fast. Hope we make it to 50 years.
