Hold your horseshoes!

Today's work wanderings took me to Sanquhar in Dumfries and Galloway.

This statue is made out of horseshoes. The statue commemorates the 100 anniversary of the Sanquhar ridings. This is when the local officials and all the horse owners in the town would ride along the marches, fancy olde word for boundaries, of the borough and make sure no one had encroached on their land and that all the fences or ditches etc marking the boundary were all in good order!

Today it's an opportunity for a gala and parties!
