fleeting visions

Have a ball!

The rain is gone, and very little snow and ice is left, so there's room to play - Play - PLAY in the back yard! Cai was ecstatic when he saw the ball in my hand, and immediately went into full working mode. He reminds me of a border collie the way he lowers his centre of gravity and maintains focus. He is absolutely still. His tail is rigid against the ground in order to lever him more quickly and efficiently to a higher jump - with short legs, you need as much help as you can get - at least, that's my theory!

Fergus (our other corgi) is just outside the frame of this photo. He believes his job is to run faster (which he does) and get the ball before - or away - from Cai. Once he has caught or nabbed the ball, however, he rarely brings it back. He generously lets Cai takes care of the retrieving duties, which he does with great willingness.

The ground is half frozen, half soggy, and littered with branches large and small from the week the trees were coated with ice. But the sun shone, and the air was mild, and who couldn't resist heading outside to play? Not us!
