University Students on the farm

These are five students from The Natural Resources College in Lilongwe (NRC).
Robert, our Manager of Farms, is showing them around the Lusangazi farm or doing some orientation, as he calls it.
The network in Malawi seems to be down, so no more details, but each year we take groups of students from NRC, students, graduates or interns, for a month or more, to teach them some practical farming.
They will be from different disciplines like horticulture, irrigation, propagation, forestry, rural development ..... What they have learned form books, our guys with little formal education, make real. Many we get come from urban areas, as they are the ones who can pay.
They stay in our hostel on the farm and each year we have to restrict the numbers as there is a huge demand for places. We don't charge as we see it as our contribution to agriculture in Malawi, and of course our guys learn a little of the relevant academic stuff.
