Prins Christian Sund? Not Today!

Backblipping our Adventures on the Voyage of the Vikings…day29

According to Wikipedia...
"Prins Christian Sund is a sound which separates the mainland of Greenland from the the islands of the Cape Farewell Archipelago near the southernmost tip of Greenland."
This narrow sound connects the Labrador Sea with the Irminger Sea.

The original plan was for us to cruise through the sound from the other direction much earlier in our voyage. We were unable to do that because of the massive ice flows blocking our passage. So this was a second attempt. We arrived at the sound's mouth in late afternoon and, alas, found that it too was blocked. This time by a couple of huge icebergs. So…making the best of a not so great situation…we drank wine and waited for the sunset.

I have seen many, many amazing sunsets…but this one was the most beautiful of all of them. I totally understand now what is meant by the Golden Hour…the very air around me seemed to glow with a Golden light! I took a hundred or so photos and it was difficult to choose the best one to share with you.
