Hobbs has kindly lent me some close up rings to try out some macro shots. It's not as easy as I expected. I have found if you are too close or too far away it won't focus. What's more, the aperture is important. If it is too big, then hardly anything is focus due to the narrow DoF. I thought this image actually looks better with the limited DoF. The alternative, with the whole frog in focus, looked rather flat and uninteresting. He also advised me to start with still objects - very good advice. How you people take bees in action is amazing.
