Tourists

No thundering waves,
To mask their noisy banter,
So far from the sea.

Teenagers used to flock to the seaside in the days of mods and rockers, but the seagulls flock inland in winter ... It's strange to see them swooping around the trees, far more lively and frivolous than the stately cormorants who watch silently from their high perches.
