A quiet corner

Raku pots by Frank Boyden at Laura Russo Gallery.

Quiet is today's DDW challenge.

Artist Jack Portland (portrait here) gave a fascinating talk on the work of his mentor and friend Louis Bunce in conjunction with an exhibit of Louis's works on paper, which Jack had curated. They were together on the day Louis died, talking about the work in progress that was on Louis's easel. He keeled over, then revived by the time the paramedics arrived. They wanted to bring him to the hospital, but he refused. He died later that night, an artist to the end.

The talk was very crowded. A number of us sat on the floor. (I was the icebreaker.) Afterward I wandered to a quiet corner of the gallery and found these wonderful raku pots. They seemed to hold an intense silence. They were arranged on a counter, not easily photographed.

I chose this shot for its negative space. For a view of the actual color, see here.
