Stained glass window

Day 19 DDW's January 2014 Challenge: Ornate

This ornate stained glass window is in the Church of St Andrew and St Cuthman, parts of which date back to the 12 th Century, although there has been a church on this spot since about 750 AD. King Ethelwulf, father of King Alfred the Great, was apparently buried here - the stone that is believed to have originally covered his grave now stands in the church porch.

Hanging in front of the window is rather an ornate chandelier, and below the window is some ornate wooden panelling dating back to the reign of Henry VIII.

I never realised before quite how much history this church has!
