One legged goose

Our village has two ponds, and this is the higher one, fringed by woodland in a cleft between two roads. On most days a heron stands patiently in the water awaiting a fish or newt meal, but today he was absent, maybe on a fishing trip elsewhere.

This lone Canada goose caught my eye, standing on one leg at the water's edge. You can just see the tip of the other webbed foot tucked up warm in her feathery undercarriage. Handy to have your own on-board goose down duvet!
