Rules are there to be broken

As I don't have much of an artistic eye, I have found the rules of composition in photography most helpful. I particularly like the rule of thirds.

A beautiful day today, so unexpected, but the view meant that I had to break the rule of thirds here. However, these are rules to be broken as often as followed.

On the same walk I took this Perfectly positioned cattle 2 because I was sure it hadn't moved since I took a similar shot on Tuesday 17 December, as a tribute. Go compare.
