Away from home.

The Rob Newman experience.

My early teens, safe in the bosom of the Home Counties with their rolling landscapes and overpriced British Rail season tickets, were punctuated by some stand out set pieces. The first Gulf War made an impression as one of the most blatant uses of political and military force of my formative years. On a minute scale by comparison was BBC 2's Mary Whitehouse Experience...

...and so, some two decades later, I headed to The Stand in Edinburgh to spend some time in the presence of Rob Newman, 25% of said Experience. It was a splendid show tonight, full of quirks, occasional references to his former life on our screens and some insights to take home and keep. Sunday lovely.
