Clavie!

Went up to Burghead to see the burning of the Clavie and welcome the New Year (Auld Style).

It was a fine dry night but there was a bitterly cold wind which fanned the flames (Short video of it here).

Here, some of the Clavie crew prepare to throw buckets of extra fuel onto the Clavie which leads to a huge flame amid cries of Clavie!.

A great traditional ceremony kept alive by the people of Burghead.

Stopped for a curry in Elgin on the way home :)
