Reading & listening

One of the pleasures of my job is meeting and working with a range of brilliant people: writers, publishers and actors, amongst others. I was lucky enough to work on a radio adaptation of Ann Cleeves crime novel, Raven Black, which is set in Shetland. As a result, I met Ann and have attended a number of her book launches, including a very special one on Fair Isle.

I'm so delighted that her work has been picked up by television: Vera (starring Brenda Blethyn) is now ITV's flagship crime drama series, replacing Frost; Shetland a major drama series for BBC One. It couldn't have happened to a lovelier writer.

Tonight, she read at one of Edinburgh's newest independent book shops, Looking Glass Books. It was great to hear her talk about where her ideas come from and read from her new book Harbour Street, which has been getting rave reviews.
