Roger Billcliffe

This afternoon I had to pop down to the Roger Billcliffe Gallery to photograph Roger for the next Mackintosh Society Journal.

Roger Billcliffe came to Glasgow in 1969 as a curator in the University Art Collections (now the Hunterian Art Gallery). In 1977 he joined Glasgow Museums as Keeper of Art, and then in 1979 moved to The Fine Art Society as director in charge of their Scottish galleries in Glasgow and Edinburgh. In 1992 he left to establish his own gallery in Glasgow where he specialises in contemporary Scottish painting, sculpture and applied arts. His many publications include Mackintosh Watercolours (1978), Charles Rennie Mackintosh: The Complete Furniture, Furniture Drawings and Interior Designs (1979 & 1986, 2009, 4th ed.), Mackintosh Textile Designs (1982), Mackintosh Furniture (1984 & 1990), The Glasgow Boys (1985 & 2008), James McIntosh Patrick (1987), Scottish Colourists (1989) and Mackintosh Textiles (1993). Roger is a founder member and past Chair of the CRM Society.
