Lights at the King's Head

A fun evening tonight in north London seeing Richard do stand up at the New Acts night in the King's Head, Crouch End. It was his first London gig, but he's performed in Brighton and Hove for over a year and experienced several great gigs at the Edinburgh Festival. It astounded me that he wasn't nervous - it was a large crowd. He had us all giggling then joined us to watch the other comedians, most of which were very funny. There was one old guy in a cowboy hat who was absolutely hilarious in his delivery. The comedians in the second half had a harder time due to a Tourette's sufferer being in the room who shouted various random words throughout the performances, usually 'Sellotape', 'Lego' and 'sex'. In a lot of the cases, it added to the humour - especially when a roll of Sellotape was taken out as part of one routine. However, it did spoil the punchlines of a few acts, but never mind. It must have been really tough for the lady - I could hear her trying to stifle the words.

All in all a great evening and it was brilliant to catch up with Richard, even if he made us cross the whole of London by performing north of the river.
