Goats and Girls

Had a great sleep last night...not hugely surprising seeing as it was coming off the end of the Machu Picchu hike. Nevertheless after a great sleep and a shower we were feeling pretty good, and we had a day of relaxing ahead of us. For the first time since the holiday began our tour had nothing booked for us. We got some laundry done and then Holly and I went shopping.

There was a big bazar which sold basically every Peruvian handicraft and souvenir a tourist could ever want. It was great and allowed us to get all our presents for everyone back home and a few things for ourselves we had eyed off at other destinations along the trip. It was even worth waiting because prices in the bazar were generally lower than we had seen elsewhere. On the way back these women convinced Holly to hold a baby lamb and get a photo with them...at a small fee of course. Nevertheless it was worth it as it allowed me to get today's blip.

In the afternoon I got my official e-mail from the VCA saying I had got into the Masters of screenwriting course, which just made the day even better. We picked up some beers and were playing cards in the hotel foyer when two of our members almost simultaneously came down with gastro. As they had both had a banana chocolate milkshake for breakfast it was easy to assume that was the culprit. They both had a rough night ahead of them.

The rest of us had a lovely night! We went to a restaurant called Fallen Angel that was...unique. It is actually a very renowned restaurant in Cusco and the food was very nice, the decor was where the uniqueness came in. Without going into to much detail about the place I will give one example, our table was an old bathtub that had been sealed, filled with water and fish, with a glass plate on top. Very different.

We then had a fun run back to the hotel in pouring rain before packing our day packs once again for our next destination that we will be leaving for tomorrow...The Amazon.
