Inversnaid

After a good breakfast we felt the need of some fresh air, and the weather was dry, with intermittent sunshine. So six of us drove up from Aberfoyle to Inversnaid, passing Loch Ard, Loch Chon, Loch Arklett and then to Inversnaid which is on the east side of Loch Lomond. It is a spectacular drive, single track for most of the way, and one of our party had not driven there before and was taken aback to have to pass three coaches coming from the hotel at Inversnaid. There are lots of passing places on the road, but he was very nervous as he tried to squeeze past and his wheels spun on the wet ground off the road. However he got there in one piece.

The journey was so worth while. I have never seen the falls at Inversnaid so spectacular, due to all the rain we have had over the last weeks. We walked along the West Highland Way from Inversnaid towards Rob Roy's Cave, and we saw lots of the wild goats who live on Ben Lomond and the surrounding area.

As we returned to the cars the rain came on,. so we were lucky to avoid it by getting out early. We intended to have coffee in the hotel, but they could not offer us anything to go with it, even a scone or biscuit, so we headed back to Aberfoyle and a bit of lunch in the Wool Centre.

In the afternoon there was a two hour country dance session, then I had a nap before dressing for dinner, and another night of dancing.
