Reflection season

We're in the season of tree outlines and water reflections. This is Hogewal canal in Den Haag before the rain ruffled the reflection. Hogewal forms part of the system of canals dug at the beginning of the 17th century to provide defense against attacks by the Spaniards. Canals were cheaper to build than walls and ramparts and apparently also served to keep "beggars and vagabonds" out of the city once the bridges were raised at sunset.
