Personal Catches of Eye

The Champion is crowned on the podium in front of photographers and TV crews from around the world.

I took a quick look over my shoulder at the sea of big lenses and flashguns clicking and popping away behind me.

In front of me Sebastian Loeb was lifting the trophy and spaying the champagne after winning Rally GB, but also the World Rally Championship 2009. His 6th world title! Now that's domination.

For those who follow the sport...
His closest rival Mikko Hirvonen had a big chance to beat Loeb this year but just couldn't do it. Driving flat out to beat Loeb's time he landed heavily after a big jump causing a bonnet pin to snap. Further down the stage he had to stop to remove the bonnet which was flapping in his view. That took one minute and ruined any chances of beating Loeb's time! Just one small piece of metal might have cost him the championship. The poor lad looked gutted at the podium.
