One Tree Hill

A gloriously drizzly day today. These are so few and far between I find myself gleeful when the clouds come and settle for the day and remind me of home. A walk in the drizzle today was just what I needed. From Mount Eden to Cornwall park and One tree Hill. A large monument sits at the top of this volcanic peak. At one time 5,000 Maori's lived on or around this peak. This is a detail on the monument erected to celebrate the Maori of Auckland by a white guy who ended up owning it. A good illustration of the complexity around heritage, culture and land in NZ.
