Luminarium

Taken during an event at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this was the first time I had even heard of, let alone experienced, a luminarium. The best way I can describe it is that it is like being inside, rather than on, a bouncy castle.

A luminarium can be described as a monumental inflatable structure designed to generate a sense of wonder at the beauty of light and colour. The domes are the large chambers rising up to 10 metres high that provide the focal points. The tunnels connect the domes and determine the journey the visitor will take. The luminaria also feature ‘pods’ - alcoves where people can sit and relax out of the way of the other visitors. monumental inflatable structures designed to generate a sense of wonder at the beauty of light and colour.
