Police Escort

Now I now what the road conditions are like when the travel report says "Snow on the road at Drumochter !
Today we had to drive North and as we were aware that the road conditions weren't looking too great we set off sharp this morning.
The journey through to Perth was very wet with a lot of surface water but as we continued north the weather turned snowy.
Just south of Pitlochry the snow really started to fall and as we passed the snow gates at Blair Atholl, we wondered if the police car positioned there was about to close the snow gates.
A few miles North, just after we thankfully managed to get over the pass at Drumochter, our little convoy was joined by this police car.
A few miles further on we passed the jack-knifed lorry on the southbound carriageway. This incident closed the road for most of the day.
Hard to believe but about 10 miles further North the snow turned to rain and the rest of the journey was quite uneventful.
Coming home the snow ploughs had been out and with the traffic on this major road the conditions were much better although there was still a lot of snow around particularly between Drumochter and Pitlochry.
