Lord Brougham

Not much of a blip tonight- just the current book which I am reading. Continued with the swimming today and then bought a new pair of gloves. I have this habit of losing a single glove thus rendering the other useless.

The play of KIDNAPPED contained a reference to the "dour Whigs" and reading Antonia Fraser on the 1832 Reform Act reminded me that it was the Whigs who started off the whole liberalisation of Britain and Brougham was a leading Whig. Reading the book it is clear that he was no "dour Whig" and that he "discovered" Nice as a winter resort for wealthy Britons.
