Burlesque Burns & more....

Busy day at the third Big Burns Supper festival in Dumfries. Slightly drenched but thankfully made it to the Spiegeltent for Le Haggis - a burlesque Burns supper! I loved this a lot - the sheer quality of all of the performers and the music from two Dumfries bands, Novantae and Caileag. I was especially spellbound by the lady in the picture, who performed on the hoop accompanied by a beautiful version of A Red, Red Rose. It was haunting and simply gorgeous.

Quick march up to the Masonic Hall for 'Jordan, Herself and Id' - an impressive, confident and powerful debut piece from 19yr old Jordan Chisholm, who also spoke at the Fresh Start for the Arts conference in November 2013. This was a really quite stunning piece. Keep an eye out for more from her!

We found a pop-up-shop full of lovely & interesting things & people (and wine) on Queen Street - the Yellow Door Gallery - which had popped up before Christmas too. Hope to see it again.

At this point, we headed to one of my favourite places - the Globe Inn - where we spent the rest of the night with great company (and more wine).
