WHY ?

Why do we need so many different light bulbs these days? Every light fitting seems to require a different method of securing the bulb.
I know it's nice to have lights that create an ambiance but the world has gone mad.
Being a grumpy old git I can remember as a lad, only ever needing standard bayonet cap bulbs. The choice then was limited to 60w or 100w, or if you were posh, pearl or clear bulbs with wattage's lower or higher!
One of the bulbs above is 52 years old, and still works! It is stamped City of Liverpool, and was used in a hand lamp when I worked as a mechanical fitter.
Can you "spot" which one it is?
